Growing Medicinal Herbs
Wholly Rooted Farm is a small medicinal herb farm and homestead where we grow over 250 types of medicinal herbs including at-risk and endangered species. We also grow Asian medicinal herbs, native medicinals, and other at-risk native plants from our region. Wholly Rooted is a United Plant Savers Botanical Sanctuary.
What we grow
Our 2024 plans changed a bit due to some health issues in our home. Things will get rolling again soon.
Plant conservation and habitat
Our goal is to preserve native and medicinal plants, encourage biodiversity, support pollinators, and maintain our several growing zones including pine forest, prairie, deciduous woods, drumlin slope. Here are a few photos of our farm. You can find more images on our facebook page, tiktok, instagram, substack, or youtube channel.
Asian Medicine
Asian herbs grown in the US and North America is an area of interest. Asian medicine including TCM and Ayurveda are areas of study and interest, as are qìgōng, zazen and meditation, and handwork such as sashiko, shibori, boro, and silk embroidery. I also enjoy archery, acupressure, and other both mental and physical sports and activities that focus the mind and body using ancient Asian traditions. I grow many Asian herbs in my mutual aid work for free clinics and donate herbs and seeds into the system. Reproducing wild culture via permaculture is a huge area of interest for me.
