Mentoring Opportunities

Are you interested in designing a permaculture based regenerative herb garden, but want to learn how to do it yourself? Do you want support in finding and creating more community opportunities for mutual aid or community herbalism work? Do you want to not only grow your own herbs, but create a home or business apothecary, mutual aid or community dispensary, or just figure out how to make the most of what you grow? Would you like to gain more experience formulating and making herbal and aromatherapy items for your clinical knowledge? Would you like to learn more about different herbs and plants in Wisconsin that can be foraged or grown?

General Herbalism, Aromatherapy, Medicinal Herb Growing, Seed Saving, Health Justice Mentorship
For the spring/summer/autumn 2026 seasons, I am accepting mentees. Your mentorship with me includes all aspects of community service, medicinal herb growing, formulating and herbal making, and health justice work.
  • You will gain experience outside helping grow medicinal plants for HWB - grow, caretake, harvest, dry, and prepare
  • You will gain experience formulating and making items for care packs and donation shipments to US HWB groups around the US
  • You will gain experience saving seeds, managing seed programs, and creating seed library/bank systems
  • You will gain experience in community and clinical herbalism and aromatherapy, depending on your area of focus
  • You will gain experience managing community apotheca and donation systems, managing donated supplies and serving the community
  • You will gain experience managing and planning gardens and plants for the seasons
  • You will experience many forms of herbal and aromatherapy preparations from fresh or dried materials including tea, infusion, oxymel, syrup, vinegar, tincture, balm, ointment, salve, inhaler, rollerball, steam, powders, balls, and more.
  • You will be a part of meaningful and impactful work that serves underserved communities around the US and world
  • You can focus on one single area or all, broadening your scope, experience, and impact

Open mentorship is for those that want to learn while also volunteering for HWB, including garden, seed, herb, justice, and community work under the umbrella. This may include groups activities, community outreach, formulating, growing, seed management, and health justice initiatives. This is experiential learning in a more informal volunteer format, volunteering under HWB while also gaining experience in many different areas as needed.

Private one-on-one mentorship is for folks who want to study a more specialized subject such as seed saving, seed starting, apothecary design, permaculture design, or other models. I will work with you one on one and guide you through educational opportunities and exercises to hone your skills. This is a private educational opportunity for educational support customized for your learning. Sliding scale fees are by season/length of mentorship.

Permaculture Design Mentorship
I offer permaculture design mentorships (a winter one-on-one mentorship specifically for permaculture design of your space) beginning each fall and winter to help folks get their gardens designed and help get you going on your medicinal permaculture garden. Mentorship is a series of zoom calls to help you as you create your garden or community project. I consult with you to help you from a permaculture design perspective that allows you to grow in a way that is best for your needs while also caretaking the earth. Mentorships start in fall and winter so that you are ready by growing season.

Mentee Opportunities

For aspiring herbalists and herb growers in the greater Dane County, Wisconsin area, there are opportunities for learning in a hands-on environment here at Wholly Rooted farm. Reach out via the form so we can schedule a zoom or tea chat. Please let me know if you are interested in private one-on-one mentorship or open mentorship. Thanks!

The minimum age for internships or volunteering opportunities is 18 - though we welcome older teens and young adults. We are a LGBTQIA2+ inclusive space.
