I volunteer for HWB working to coordinate the donation of food and medicinal seeds from seed companies throughout the US. Food is Medicine, so growing food is as important as growing medicinal plants.
When HWB Chapters can grow gardens, they can use the space for community education, sharing with folks what medicinal herbs are, how to grow them, how to harvest them, and how to use them. They can harvest fresh herbs and use them for community classes or for free clinics. They can create care kits for the unhoused or host make and take classes to teach people how to use the plants. Education is empowerment, and teaching people that these plants (that grow all around them) can help support their health and wellness is very powerful. The more gardens HWB supports in communities, the better! I love teaching people how to grow and use herbs, and the more of us there are sharing to our communities, the stronger our communities become. |

HWB US Donation Distribution NetworkI am the central US hub for all US donations from members, businesses, retail stores, manufacturers, and others who want to donate herbs, supplements, supplies, containers, disaster relief items, and so on. I intake the donations here, inventory them and upload the items to our master list, and HWB US Coordinators review the items and email me their needs lists. I make and box the supplies on the first and third Monday's of each month and ship them out with packing manifests for each Coordinator so they can report on the use. I update inventory each time I box/ship. I make certain things to order so they are fresh - such as inhalers, rollerballs, lotions, gels, and topical items based on what we have on hand that was donated. I box and ship a lot of supplies to folks who need them every month, and we have made a huge impact in sharing supplies out to those who need them and managing them in a way to minimize waste, share equitably and fairly, and to create a reciprocity based mutual aid system that also allows folks to chip back into the system.
