Yarrow
Digital mixed media artist print of the native Yarrow, Achillea millefolium. The latin name, if you can guess, is from Achilles, the Greek god. The myth goes that Achilles mom had dipped him in yarrow to make him invulnerable as a body, holding him by his heel, which became his only weak spot. The centaur Chiron is said to have taught Achilles how to use yarrow to treat wounded soldiers. In herbalism we use yarrow in tea, tincture, oil infusion, salve, and even as a powder/poultice. It grows all over my farm, and I love the frilly waving leaves in the summer breeze.
