WELCOME TO WHOLLY ROOTED

Wholly Rooted is a small herb farm, United Plant Savers Botanical Sanctuary, educational space, and home-based hub for community herbalism, ecological care, creative work, and natural living.

Here, we grow and tend more than 250 kinds of medicinal, aromatic, native, and food plants — for pollinators, for people, for learning, for art, and for community care. Some plants are grown for our household, farm, perfume, herbal, and aromatherapy projects. Many are grown specifically to support Herbalists Without Borders and the HWB US Donation Network. And some are a part of our native habitat restoration.

At Wholly Rooted, the work is rooted in relationship: with plants, place, family, community, and the wider web of life.

What Happens Here
Wholly Rooted is a little bit of everything plant-centered.

We are a United Plant Savers Botanical Sanctuary, where we grow and steward at-risk medicinal plants and support habitat for native pollinators. We have a woodland sanctuary and a prairie sanctuary space. 

We grow aromatic, medicinal, native, and food plants for our household, perfume business, creative practice, educational projects, and community herbalism work.

We grow and donate herbs, seeds, and supplies for Herbalists Without Borders, including plants used in the HWB US Donation Network, which distributes thousands of herbal and aromatherapy tools each year  (Over $100,000 in retail value annually) to communities experiencing disaster, displacement, economic hardship, and lack of access.

We manage the HWB Seed Grant Program, distributing thousands of packets of medicinal, aromatic, native, and food plant seeds around the country, while also maintaining a seed library so we can respond when communities need support after disasters.

We make and prepare herbal and aromatherapy items for donation, create educational resources, develop garden designs and community models, and offer webinars and e-guides to support people growing and sharing herbs in their own neighborhoods.
Wholly Rooted is also part of the HWB aromatherapy and herbal mentor program, where mentees can gain practical experience in formulation, community care, and clinical herbalism and aromatherapy support.

And alongside all of that, this is also where we grow food, family, art, beauty, resilience, and a deeper relationship with the living world.

Learn, Volunteer, Connect
Wholly Rooted is both a working space and a learning space. Depending on the season, there may be opportunities to volunteer, visit for educational programs, learn about medicinal and aromatic plants, support donation projects, or connect around ecological and community care.
